Loretta Rose (Koeller) Hohner

Loretta Rose (Koeller) Hohner, 86, of Smithfield, VA, passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2026, in Smithfield, Virginia. She was born April 12, 1938, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to Alvin and Dorothy Koeller and married Clarence Martin Hohner in Shawano, Wisconsin, on May 24, 1958.

After growing up in Shawno and graduating from Shawnee High School in 1957, Loretta attended secretarial school in Minnesota before accepting a position as a Typist with the US Department of the Navy in Washington, DC in 1958.

Loretta and Clarence raised their family in Falls Church, VA where Loretta focused on caring for her family while working retail positions, before retiring with her husband to the cabin they built by hand with her son. Loretta enjoyed keeping a frugal and well-organized home, reading, traveling with her family, and antique-hunting for Currier and Ives’ dishes.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Marie Kraus (Michael); four grandchildren; Jamie Oliver (Michael), Beckie Hohner, Katie Cates (Riley), and Timothy Kraus (Haley); and six great–grandchildren, Ruby Lee, Wyatt and Waylon Oliver; Ethan and Genevieve (Hohner) Conroy; and Reagan Kraus.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hohner, and her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Martin and Cynthia Jean Hohner. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2 pm, at Littles Funeral Home, with Brother Caleb Canavan officiating. Loretta will be laid to eternal rest beside her husband at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, Virginia at a later date.
