Irene Marie King

Irene Marie King, 94, of Carrollton, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on September 12, 2026.

Irene was born on March 25th 1932 in Floyd County, Virginia to parents Bessie Reed and Jessie Booth.

Irene was a loving wife, strong mother and beloved grandmother. During her 46 years of marriage to Harvey King, she taught us that love is shown not only in words, but in a lifetime of kindness, sacrifice, and devotion. She was always there with a listening ear and an open heart. Irene was a constant source of love, wisdom and encouragement. Her greatest legacy is the unconditional love she poured into her family and the memories shared that are held deep in each of our hearts. Her family will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Richard King, Diane Frank (daughter), Phyllis Pruitt (sister), Hobert Booth (brother), Glenn Booth (brother), Carmie Booth (brother), Diana Harris (sister).

She is survived by her sisters Geraldine Guilliams and Betty Sue Gordon; her children, Betty Jane Evans (Chuck), Linda Ross, Gloria Riffe, Richard King (Tom), Susan Barber (Michael); her grandchildren Joshua Ross (Tracy), Chris Riffe (Bitsy), Joseph Frank, Cory Evans, Jason Riffe (Ginger), Angie Milton-Hall, Nick Frank, Lance Evans (April), Steve Barber (Levi), and Elizabeth Barber (Bobby); her 13 great-grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, Joshua, Lilly, Brendan, Bayleigh, Brandy, Annaliese, Bryce, Ariella, Jayce, Axel, Felicity.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 20th at 2pm at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Smithfield, Virginia.
