Paul Arthur Norman, Sr.

Paul A. Norman, Sr., 90, of Ivor, Va, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. He was the son of the late Lebert Arthur Norman and Effie Alys Bailey Norman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Faye Louise Norman. He is survived by his daughter, Ardith Norman (Donnie Harrell); sons, Paul A. Norman, Jr (Suzy) and Troy Norman (Cindy); grandchildren, Crystal McFatter (Dempsey), Scott Prillaman (Suzy), Paula Norris, Samantha Shepard(Chris) and Ariel Norman; great grandchildren, Shelby(Brandon), Colby, Ashton, Brylee, Jase, Colton, Tanner, Landon, Walker, Hunter, Josh and Austin; great great grandchildren, Clay and Wendy; a sister, Verma Roland; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Henry; and his siblings, Audry Edmondson, Estus Norman and Alan Norman. He was known as “Pop” to many who knew him in the community, young and old.

Paul left many wonderful memories of his love of flying. He was a pioneer of model aviation and an original member of the Hampton Roads Radio Control Club. His love of flying began at the age four when he saw a plane flying as he played in a field. From there he started u-control flying and became so good that he was not allowed to fly in competitions. He had to become a judge. He went on to radio control flying and enjoyed his role as a mentor to many others. He continued to fly as often as he could into his late 80’s.

He also enjoyed building experimental full-scale aircraft and was private pilot and member of the civil air patrol. He was a Jac-of-All Trades and a master of most.
