Barbara Lorraine Keeton

Barbara Lorraine Bass Keeton, 86, passed away on September 6, 2026. Barbara was born on July 11, 1940, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Robert Burnett Bass and Vaughty Marie Bass. She later moved with her family from Asheville to Norfolk, Virginia, where she attended Maury High School. 

Barbara enjoyed a long career with JCPenney Corporation before retiring in 2000. While she took pride in her work, her greatest joy was her family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and treasured the memories they made together.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Levering Keeton; her parents, Robert Burnett Bass and Vaughty Marie Bass; and her siblings, Jack Burnett Bass, Loyce B. Bass, and Sarah Louise Bass Patterson. 

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Billy Marcus “Mark” Henson, Jr. and his wife, Roche, and Steven Wayne Henson and his wife, Jennifer; her six grandchildren, Billy Marcus “Trey” Henson, III and his wife, Laura; Kyle A. Joseph Henson and his wife, Kati; Ashley Ragin Holliday Weiss and her husband, James; Kristopher Allen Henson and his wife, Amber; Rachel Elizabeth Holliday; and Robert Tyler Henson; as well as her great-grandchildren and extended family. 

Barbara will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family and the many years of love, care, and memories she shared with those closest to her. Her memory will live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who knew and loved her. 

No public funeral or memorial service will be held. Instead, Barbara’s family will gather privately at a later date to celebrate her life, share cherished memories, and honor the love and joy she brought to their lives.
