George Franklin Jones, Sr,

George Franklin Jones, Sr, 72, of Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  He was the son of the late George Edward Jones and Maggie Mae Edwards Jones.  He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Phyllis Brock Jones; daughter, Nancy Lynn Jones (Shawn Cowan); son, George “Tody” Franklin Jones, Jr; grandchildren, Haley, Logan, Dani, Robert, Racheal and Brandon; great grandchildren, Abel and Landyn; sister, Jean Bowden; and a brother, Joseph G. Jones (Joanne).  He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Davis Jones.  George retired as a maintenance supervisor after 28 years with Smithfield Packing Company. He enjoyed wood working and was an excellent carpenter.  He was member and past Deacon at Central Hill Baptist Church.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August, 28, 2021, 11 a.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, with burial to follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
