Wayne T. Edwards

Wayne Taylor Edwards, 78, was born on June 2, 1947, and passed away on September 9, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Gwaltney Lee Edwards, Sr. and Mary Taylor Powell Edwards. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Worrell Edwards; son, Jason Edwards (Ashley Johnson); daughter, Jennifer Wauer (Dustin); sister, Joan Ragland (Gene); sister-in-law, Anne Edwards; and grandchildren, Bryce Edwards, Eben Wauer, Moriah Wauer, Magen Wauer, Abram Wauer and Noah Wauer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gwaltney Lee Edwards, Jr.

He was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County and lifelong member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Wayne was an honorary member of Moonlight Hunt Club and member of Darden Store Hunt Club. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, spending time with children and grandchildren, as well as serving his community.

Wayne enjoyed working with his dad and brother on the farm. He graduated from Smithfield High School and served 2 years in the Army. He worked at Addison Foods as the plant manager for 44 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working with Jason in his business, Edwards Lawn Service and Landscaping, LLC, where he was his “best” employee forever. Wayne was a dedicated and loving husband, father, “Pop” and friend to many.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Little’s Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 14, 2025, 2:00 pm, followed by burial at Bethany Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall.
