Virginia Barlow Edwards

Virginia Ann Barlow Edwards, 81 of Smithfield passed away, at her residence on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Willie Washington Barlow and Virginia Eva Savedge Barlow. Virginia is survived by her husband of 54 years John “Sonny” Thomas Edwards, sister Myrtle West Parker (John) and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Gwaltney Jacquette Circle where she had served as treasurer of both. Virginia was a founder and the first president of the Post 8545 Auxilary. She was preceded in death by her sister Elsie Barlow O’Berry and brothers, Clyde Washington Barlow and James Linwood Barlow. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church followed by burial in Bethany Cemetery.
