Thomas Larry Black born March 20th, 1958 in Batesville, AK went home to be with his beloved wife Janet on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. “Larry” is survived by his devoted only son Brandon, daughter-in-law Ashley, granddaughter Amelia, and future granddaughter Reese of Smithfield, two brothers Steve Black and Robert Black and Sharon of Hampton, VA and his beloved dog Odie. He was preceded in death by his one true love Janet Leah Black, father Charles Kenneth Black, mother Mary Cheleast Black and his beloved dog Fisher.
Larry spent 32 years in Smithfield, VA where he called home. After a brief illness Larry spent his final days at the home of Brandon and Ashley in the company of his granddaughter Amelia that he loved dearly. He had a deep love of fishing, golfing, and sports. Larry’s favorite past times were watching his son play basketball, and golfing with Brandon and his friends. He was an avid UNC basketball fan and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He never did miss a chance to sit in the garage and share a cold beer with friends. Larry was a strong force to be reckoned with right up until his final days. He was set in his ways and loved his family fiercely.
Dad I will miss the morning phone calls talking about the late games and making our dinner plans. I will crack a Bud light for you and know you will be there watching every game. Give mom my love, I will miss you always.
