Theresa Maifeld Powell

Theresa Matilda Maifeld Powell, 91 of Smithfield, passed away on Sunday June 14, 2026. She was born October 30, 1934 in Sussex County, Va, daughter of the late Louis Oscar Maifield and Sarah Eleanor Sale Maifeld. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ernest C. Powell, Sr; daughter, Faith Collet Powell of Ashburn, Va; son, Ernest C. Powell, Jr of Huntsville, Al; sister, Virginia Grace Adams, of Waverly, Va; sister-in-law, Joanne Powell, of Bryantown, Md; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Eleanor Maifeld Jones and Sarah Jane Maifeld Bailey.

Mrs. Powell will be interred at a later date at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.

The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Lifelong Health and Rehabilitation in Smithfield, Va and Riverside Hospice Care for their compassionate care of Theresa.
