Ted Russell Pendleton

March 20, 1932 — September 20, 2025

Smithfield

Ted Russell Pendleton, 93, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on March 20, 1932, in Henry, Virginia, to the late Theron Lancaster Pendleton and Beatrice Fannie Pendleton. Ted was preceded in death by his brother, Vance Pendleton and his beloved wife of 65 years, the love of his life, Carol Ann Pendleton.

Ted was in the Army when he met Carol on a blind date, and they were married September 4, 1954. The couple relocated to Hampton, Virginia and it was there that Ted became a master finish carpenter by trade, and his craftsmanship can be found in countless high-end homes throughout the peninsula, a legacy of skill and pride that will endure for generations.

Ted and Carol relocated to Florida from Virginia in 1988 following Carol’s retirement and Ted lived there for 33 years before moving back to Virginia to live with his daughter in Smithfield, Virginia.

Ted was known for his calm demeanor, handsome smile, and kindness to everyone he met. An avid fisherman in his younger years, Ted found his greatest peace near the water and enjoyed everything about the beach and the sea. He was also a lifelong NASCAR fan—every Sunday during racing season, you could find him faithfully cheering on his favorite drivers.

Above all, Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the heart of his life, and in his later years, he especially cherished time spent with his great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

He is survived by his children, Jody Pendleton (Lisa) and Tracy Pendleton (Ken); grandchildren, Amy Pendleton, Jessica Pendleton, Kaitlyn Ward (Chad), Brittany Robbins (Kyle), Robert Barrett (Kenzie), Jeffery Robinson, and Elisabeth Thompson (Cody); and great-grandchildren Silas, Piper, Charlie, Cooper, Phoebe, Rory, and Eric; his sister, Peggy O’Keefe and brother, Doug Pendleton and many more extended family members.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and whole hearted thank you to the Doctor, nurses and staff at Affinity Care of Virginia, Newport News for their compassionate care during his time under hospice care.

There will be a visitation on September 28, 2025 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1515 S. Church Street, Smithfield, VA 23430. “As I navigate this journey without him, I'm holding on to the memories we made together. I'm holding on to the lessons he taught me, the love he showed me, and the laughter we shared. I'm holding on to the thought of seeing him again someday. Until then, dear Daddy, rest in peace. I love you more than words can say. All my heart, Always, Tracy & Jody”
