Susanne Gail DeGroft

Susanne Gail Simons DeGroft, 71, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Simons and Joy Gail Spratte Simons. Mrs. DeGroft was married for 49 years, to the late Arthur Leon DeGroft. Mrs. DeGroft is survived by daughters, Artura Linda D. Mayo (Melvin), Marguerite Evelyn D. Johnson (Woodrow), Nichole Ingrid D. Stalls (Russell); son, Joshua Vern DeGroft (Melissa); grandchildren: Isaac, Gabriel, Nicole, Alethia, Warrick, Joshua, Dustin and Shane; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Carlson. Susanne grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1968. She continued her education at Beth-El at Memorial Hospital, and then earned two Masters of Nursing degrees from Webster University and University of Texas El Paso. Susanne proudly served her country in the Army as a Major where she honorably served as a Registered Nurse. With her commitment to her professional development, Susanne earned several Nursing Board Certifications which included: ANCC Amb-Care, Case Management, and Advanced Practice Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Susanne met Arthur in Colorado Springs in 1971. On December 18, 1971 Arthur and Susanne married in Hanover, Pennsylvania, which started their 49-year marriage of love, compassion, and partnership.
