Shelton Lane Thacker

Shelton Lane Thacker, 93, of Smithfield passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022. He was the son of the late Lawrence Clyde Thacker and Elsie Gwaltney Thacker. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne Griffin Thacker; son, Michael R. Thacker; daughter, Sharon Thacker Carawan; grandson, Justin Carawan; brother, Raymond G. Thacker. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Randall “Randy” Thacker. Mr. Thacker was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County where he farmed with his family.  He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, 1 p.m.  at Bethany UMC with burial to follow in the Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431.
