Sharon Elizabeth Schmincke

Sharon Elizabeth Schmincke, 69, of Smithfield, VA passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Adron Dale Swope and Jean Elizabeth Smith Swope. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter Louis Schmincke, Jr; sons, Matthew Daly Schmincke (Olivia) and Tyler Smith Schmincke; grandchildren, Eva Grace Schmincke and Claire Elise Schmincke; and brothers, Brian Swope (Barbara) and Terry Swope (Aileen). She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Andrews and Cathy Ferguson.

Sharon was a loving wife to Walt, caring mother to their sons, Matt and Tyler, and the doting “Gramma” to her granddaughters, Eva and Claire. She was an active member throughout the Isle of Wight community and touched many people’s hearts in her service with the Carrollton Ruritan Club, Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 36, and with the Smithfield VA Events Committee. She was a friend to many in our community and her presence will be missed.
