Selma Dare Hundley Jones, born October 16, 1948, in Suffolk, VA, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, in her home of 52 years, in Seaford, VA.
Selma was the daughter of the late Clarence Carroll Hundley and Edith Bell Hundley. She was the granddaughter of the late Willie N. Bell and Gladys C. Bell and the late Elbert Hundley and Selma Hundley Hines.
Selma is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Glenn Jones, and their three children: David Jones (Angie) of Seaford, VA; Chris Jones (Lisa) of Hampton, VA; and Susie James (John) of Wyckoff, NJ, and her eight beloved grandchildren: Parker, Reid, Ellen, Rebekah, Scotty, Sammy, Stephen, and JP, who adored their “Meme.” She is also survived by four step-grandchildren: Brandon (Aliyah); Jordan; Nathan; and Logan. Selma is also survived by her beloved brothers: Clarence Hundley, Jr. and David Hundley both of Smithfield, VA.
Selma graduated from Smithfield High School in 1967 and attended Christopher Newport College, where she was a cheerleader for the school’s first basketball team.
Selma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker for her family. In addition to raising her family, Selma also assisted Glenn in his profession as a commercial insurance agent. She was an active member of Warwick Assembly of God Church for over 50 years and a volunteer at Seaford Elementary School for 35 years.
Selma will be most remembered for her sweet, kind and gentle spirit and character.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 6th, from 6:30 to 8:30 at Warwick Assembly of God Church, 1228 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA.
A celebration of Selma’s life will be held at 11:00, Saturday, February 7th, at Warwick Assembly of God Church.
A reception will follow the service in the church’s fellowship hall.
Interment will follow at St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Smithfield, VA.
The family would like to thank the Riverside Hospital Cancer Center and Hospice Care for their compassionate care.
