Sarah Catherine Spiers

Sarah Catherine Ogle Spiers, 81, of Surry passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.  She was the daughter of the late James Howard Ogle and Lizzie Jewell Braswell Ogle.  Mrs. Spiers was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Walter Whitney Spiers, Jr.  She is survived by her daughters, Janice Carol Spiers and Linda Joyce Spiers; sons, Howard Lee Spiers (Celeste) and Alfred Lee Spiers; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Walter Eugene Spiers.  Mrs. Spiers loved to cook and always put family first. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019, 2 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Surry.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Smithfield.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Surry Volunteer Fire Department or the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad.
