Ryan James Ross, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 20. He was born on June 2, 2005, in Suffolk, Virginia, to Paul Daniel Ross and Kathleen Williams Ross.
Ryan graduated from Smithfield High School in 2023. He was an avid gamer and a passionate sports fan who loved cheering on his beloved Vegas Golden Knights, Buffalo Bills, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics. Ryan formed many meaningful friendships and connections online, where he especially enjoyed gaming and playing Dungeons & Dragons.
Traveling and helping others were a significant part of Ryan’s life, and he will continue to help others through his generous choice to be an organ donor.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Paul and Kathleen Ross of Smithfield, VA; his grandmother, Katherine Ross of Garland, NC; his aunt, Tracy Pierce (Ronnie) of Windsor, VA; his uncle, Terrence Ross (Tiffany) of Shallotte, NC; his cousins, Casey Pierce, Blaze Ross, and Aurora Ross; and many beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Nancy Williams.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Little’s Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1515 S. Church Street, Smithfield, VA. To honor Ryan’s love of gaming and sports, the family requests that attendees who also love sports and gaming wear their favorite gaming or sports team or character apparel to the service.
Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the Crittenden, Eclipse & Hobson Ruritan Club, 8881 Eclipse Drive, Suffolk, VA.
