On November 27th, 2021, Russell Stuart Daughtrey died peacefully in his home in Goldsboro, North Carolina, surrounded by friends and family, and his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Edwards Daughtrey. Russell was born in Isle of Wight County, VA on October 5th, 1945 and was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Stuart Daughtrey, mother, Sarah Virginia Daughtrey, and granddaughter, Tori Klages. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing with friends and family. He was known for being a craftsman and fixing just about anything when he put his mind to it. Russell worked for Bobby Keen’s Custom-Built Homes out of Suffolk, VA and was a superintendent at Smithfield Packing. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and served his country well. Russell is survived by his wife JoAnn; son, Timothy Stuart Daughtrey and wife Connie Bryant Daughtrey; daughter, Kimberly Daughtrey Klages and husband William Richard Klages; his brother, David Kent Daughtrey and wife Nancy Daughtrey; a sister, Betty Daughtrey Ellis; six grandchildren, Courtney, Tim Jr, BJ, Cameron, and Josie; six great grandchildren Eli, Liam, Noah, Braylen, Avery, and Adalyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Seymour Funeral Home, Goldsboro, N.C. on November 30th at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at Bethany Cemetery in Smithfield, VA at 1:00pm. Family will be receiving visitors at 203 Deer Spring Ln, Smithfield, VA 23430 from 2-5pm on Wednesday following the graveside service.
