Rue Mitchell Briley

Rue Mitchell Roberts Briley, 85, of Smithfield, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021.  She was the daughter of the late Simpkins Alonzo Roberts and Mary Elizabeth Buck Jones.  She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lee Briley.  Mrs. Briley is survived by her daughters, Brenda B White and Rhonda B. Ritter (Gino); son, Kenneth “Keith” Lee Briley, Jr (Candace); grandchildren, Angela, Daniel, Chris, Jon (Jennifer), Gavin, Logan, Finn and Eva; great grandchildren, Devan, Mathew and Breanna; and a brother, Jimmy Earl Roberts.  She was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church.  She retired from the Hampton Schools food services.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021, 3 p.m. in St. Luke’s Memorial Park, Smithfield, VA.  The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the fifth-floor staff in the Riverside Pavilion for their amazing care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431.
