Roger was born in Durham, NC. He moved with his family to Virginia during WWII and was raised in Portsmouth, graduated Wilson High School, and like many others, served in the US Army in Germany. Roger is survived by his daughters, Christina and Jennifer Capps and Antonia McElhaney and husband Joseph; his grandchildren, Rachael and Claudia Kilgore and Rosalie and Aubrey McElhaney; and a great-grandchild Atlas.
