Robert Sidney Lentz

  Robert Sidney Lentz, 88, of Smithfield passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 after a brief illness. A native of North Carolina, Robert was the son of the late John Franklin Lentz, Sr. and Ethel Currie Lentz. A veteran of the U S Army he had retired as a civil service engineer. After retirement he spent many years in Florida with his wife of 45 years Elaine Robinson Lentz. After moving to Smithfield to be closer to family he became a member of the local American Legion and attended Benns United Methodist Church. Robert is survived by his wife Elaine, daughter Gloria J. Smith (Lloyd), grandchildren Lloyd Smith, Jr. (Lynn) and Shara Mehailescu (Frank), and great grandchildren Amanda, Mathew, Sydney, and Patrick.   A service in celebration of his life with military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Smithfield.
