Robert Carl “Bob” Kues, 93, passed away May 22, 2023. Born in Logan, WV, Bob was the son of the late Norma Godfrey Kues and William Carl Kues. He'd been a resident of Smithfield for 56 years, but had moved to Roanoke in 2022.
A devoted husband, step-father, step-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, Bob leaves 2 step-daughters, Deborah H. Povlishock (John) and Renee H. Ferrary (Matthew); two granddaughters, Alexandra Newell (Tim) and Marisa Povlishock; nieces, Elisabeth Turner, Margaret Williamson (Dan), and Shelley Campbell (Roger). In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and his sister, Betty K. Turner. After graduating from Roanoke College, Bob joined the US Army and spent two and a half years stationed in Germany. He was a proud member of the American Legion. Bob had a 35-year career with VDACS and retired in 1994. A graveside service celebrating Bob’s life will occur on May 25th, 2023. It will take place in St. Luke's Memorial Park at 1:00 PM. Bob will be remembered as one who loved his family and pets and he spent many years caring for others, especially his wife during her years of declining health. He will be profoundly missed. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Service arrangements are in the care of Little’s Funeral Home, 1515 S Church St, Smithfield, VA.
