Ricky A Matney

Ricky A. Matney, 68, of Smithfield passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021.  He was the son of the late Otis Matney and Maybell Davis Matney.  Mr. Matney is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara K. Matney; daughter, Audra Matney Balisky (Michael); granddaughter, Dominique Balisky; nephew, William Blankenship (Diane); nieces, Dr. Tonya Mitchell (Kevin) and Dr. Cassandra Ferreira (Dr. John Ferreira); sister-in-law’s, Wilma Melvin (Doug) and Dr. Linda Justus; his faithful dog, Amos; and several great nieces and nephews.  He was the owner and operator of R.A. Matney Trucking in Smithfield, VA.  He was known by his beautiful beard. He was a member of the Smithfield Union Lodge #18 and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #127. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, 5 to 7 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021, noon, at Shortridge Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, VA with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park.
