Richard “Rick” Carl Mann, 49, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Born August 28, 1976, the son of the late Elizabeth Mary Lowe, he was later raised by the late Carletta Anne Klementovich and Joseph Frank Klementovich.
He is survived by the love of his life, Christina Marie Mann, to whom he was married for twenty-eight years and shared two children with, his daughter, Ashleigh Mann, and his son, Anthony Mann, and a spoiled dog, Loki Mann; his sister, Rebecca Klementovich, and his brothers, Mathew Mann, Joseph “Joey” Klementovich, and Marcus Wierman.
In 1995, Rick joined the United States Navy as a culinary specialist, where he spent the next twenty years, traveling around and seeing the wonders of the world on various deployments. Serving in the U.S. Navy was one of the great joys of his life, it was where he found adventure, purpose, and lifelong friendship.
Above all else, Rick was a devoted family man. He lived and died by the belief “Family first.” To Rick, those words were more than a saying; it was how he lived his life. No distance was ever too far, no inconvenience too great, and no sacrifice too much when it came to the people he loved. Whether that meant driving three hours to deliver banana bread to his daughter at college during exam week, driving four hours to his son stationed in Camp Lejeune to make sure he had groceries, or calling his wife fourteen times a day when he was away for work, Rick made sure that no matter what his family needed he was there. His love was steadfast, selfless, and unconditional, and will remain one of his greatest legacies.
Those who knew Rick knew that he found his best friend, Loki, at the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you pay your respects to Rick by donating items to the shelter, which can be done either in person or through their Amazon wish list (towels, blankets, leashes, cat & dog toys, dog & cat food, collars, etc.).
Internment will take place at a later date at Albert G. Horton Jr Veterans Memorial Cemetery, as well as a time of Remembrance, Storytelling and Photo Sharing at St. Therese Church in Chesapeake, VA.
