Richard Lee Gillerlain

Richard L. Gillerlain, 68, of Carrollton passed away on June 8, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gayle P. Gillerlain, a son; a brother, Frank H. Gillerlain Jr. (Kathleen); a sister Lynn Roberts (Dick); and nieces and nephews. Born in Portsmouth, he lived most of his life in Norfolk.  He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from ODU and worked at the Norfolk NARF and Navy Public Works.  He retired to Carrollton, where he lent his experience and expertise to the Isle of Wight Planning Commission.  After his term ended, he attended Southside Vineyard Community Church and remained active in community affairs, always looking out for the best interest of everyone around him.  He was always there, in good times and bad, constant in his faithfulness to his family, to his friends, to anyone fortunate enough to count him as an ally.  He is missed.  Services will be private.
