With heavy hearts and hope anchored in the promises of Christ, we announce that our beloved mother, daughter, sister, Nana, and friend, Pamela Jean Cason Amburgey, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2025, at the age of 59.
Pam was born on August 12, 1965, in Syracuse, Nebraska, to Claire and Jimmy Cason. From an early age, her gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and deep compassion touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Pam was the devoted and loving mother of Courtney Amburgey Corboy (Emmett) and Kaytlyn Amburgey (Chuck). Her greatest joy in life was being Nanna to her treasured grandchildren, Amber and Emmett II, who brought light and laughter to her days.
Those left to grieve her absence and cherish her memory are her family listed above; her loving parents; her former husband and close friend, John Wayne Amburgey; her sister, Rhonda Whitley (Mark); her brother, Randy Cason (Sarah); and her Aunt Carol, who was more like a sister. Pam dearly loved her nieces and nephews — Kyle, Sarah, Amy, Benji, Jaycee, and Marshall — and was surrounded by a large, close-knit circle of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. This includes her work family where she was most recently employed at H&B Railroad who loved and supported her throughout her lengthy battle.
Pam’s life reflected the quiet, enduring love of Christ. She walked in grace, cared deeply for others, and was genuine in every personal encounter. One of her favorite verses is/was Psalm 143:8 – “Let me experience your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in you. Reveal to me the way I should go because I appeal to you.”
If you were ever blessed to receive a birthday or Christmas card from Pam, you would know how much she loved crafting and Stampin’ Up with her friends. She also enjoyed painting, trips to the beach, and being with family and friends.
A celebration of Pam’s life will be held on Saturday, July 26, at Smithfield Baptist Church, 100 Wainwright Road, Smithfield, VA 23430. The celebration of life service will begin at 3pm followed by a reception and visitation. Interment will be at a later date. All are welcome to join us in honoring the life and legacy of a truly special woman. If you are able to attend, please consider wearing bright colors as we know she would love that.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Doorways, an organization that lovingly supported Pam’s family during her transplant journey, allowing them to remain near VCU Health throughout her care. The Doorways – www.thedoorways.org.
Though we grieve the loss of Pam, we rest in the promise of Revelation 21:4 — “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” We rejoice knowing that she is now fully healed, at peace, and embraced in the eternal love of her Savior. Pam lived a life of quiet strength, deep love, and unshakable faith. She will be missed beyond measure. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com
