Michael “Mike” Woodard, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at home with his wife and daughter by his side. After a long illness he finally went home to be with the Good Lord. He was the son of the late Maxwell C. Woodard and Margaret Virginia Bell Woodard. Mike is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Porter Woodard; daughter, Kathy Jo Robinson (Douglas); granddaughter, Rachel Rodgers (Richard); great granddaughter, Emma Olivia Rodgers; brother, Brian Woodard (Janice); many cousins; and his brother-in-law, Bucky Jones. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellen W. Jones.
Mike was known locally as the “Spray Nine Man”. He owned and operated Spray Nine of Virginia for more than twenty-five years. After retirement he worked with V R Edwards as the “go getter”. Mike lived a life we all wish we could. He worked hard and played hard. Between his drag racing adventures in VA and NC, he and Linda toured the country with their friends. They enjoyed traveling either by motorcycle or by motorhome, and never met a stranger along the way. He loved his family and his two black cats that traveled with them. He had a tender heart and always helped those in need.
The family will receive guest for a time of remembrance at the family home, 48 Days Point Lane, Smithfield, VA, on Sunday June 8, 2025 from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Elevate Church Building Fund, Windsor, VA. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Donald Soles, for his compassion and care. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com
