Mayra Izquierdo Yankanwich, 66, passed away at her home on October 13, 2023. Mayra was born on November 29, 1956, in Cuba, to Hermino and Mavis Izquierdo. Her departure has left a void that can never be filled. She was an extraordinary woman whose love and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Mayra's greatest accomplishment in life was her commitment to her family. As a devoted wife to Joseph Walter Yankanwich, they shared a love that knew no bounds. Their marriage was a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership. Mayra's children were her pride and joy. She leaves behind her son Michael Stephen Yankanwich (Trekilia) and daughter Mayranne Brock (Shannon), both of whom she loved unconditionally.
As a doting grandmother to Kaitlynn, Mayson, and Tiger, Mayra reveled in every moment spent with them. She found immeasurable joy in creating lasting memories with her grandchildren who will forever cherish the love and wisdom she bestowed upon them. Also, she deeply valued her relationships with her sisters Celia and Nana. Their bond was unbreakable, built on shared experiences and unconditional support.
Mayra served her country with honor as a member of the US Navy. Her dedication to serving others carried over into every aspect of her life. Mayra possessed a selflessness that inspired those around her to be better individuals.
May we find strength in the memories we shared with Mayra and carry on her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. She has left an indelible mark on each of us, reminding us to treasure our loved ones and live each day with gratitude and compassion.
