Mary Elizabeth Wilkins

Mary Wilkins, 90, resident of Suffolk, VA, passed away on July 4, 2024, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Wilkins. She is survived by two daughters, Rosa Orrell, husband Donnie and Darlene Waters, husband Johnny. She also had four grandchildren she thought the world of, Donald Orrell, II, wife Danielle, Nicole Waters, Jeremy Orrell and John Michael Waters. Four great grandchildren, Makayla Orrell, Leah Orrell, MaryJane Waters and Wesley Orrell.

Mary excelled in overcoming all odds to find happiness in life. She left her home in North Carolina at age 17 with the love of her life and they were happily married for 62 years. Mary spent her life caring for others, traveling on adventures, hosting her famous Christmas Eve party and would do anything for family. Her laughter would fill the room even in the final years battling Alzheimer’s.

In addition to her immediate family, Mary left behind two sisters, Kathleen and Rosalee; four brothers, Thomas (Bird), Buddy, Robert, and Pewee.

The family has chosen to hold a private “Celebration of Life” at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the local Alzheimer’s Association.
