Mary Louise Edwards

Mary Louise Doyle Edwards, 94 of Smithfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2018.  She was born May 25, 1924 to the late George Fletcher and Louise Pitt Doyle.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Edwards, daughter Lisa L. Edwards and brother John Wesley Doyle and wife Lucille. Mammy as she was known by her family was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her family was her pride and joy, and she had a first Sunday dinner as long as her health would let her.  She was a wonderful cook and made the best fried chicken, chocolate and coconut cake. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the ladies bible class. Left to cherish her memory is her son George Wesley Edwards (Jeanette) and daughter Alice E. Upton (Greg, Sr.); her grandchildren Ben Edwards (Jill), LeAnn Wait (John), Dana Edwards (Anna Boyer), Greg Upton Jr. (Lora) and Phillip Upton (Evie); Great-grandchildren Jordan, Wesley, Drew and Kirbie Edwards, Justin, Jacob, Anna and Sarah Wait, Darren, Miranda, Olivia, Lorraine, Reese, Abby and Ian Upton, and Cade White.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Bethany Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield.
