Martha Raye Whitley

Martha Raye Whitley, 72, of Smithfield was reunited with her twin sister Alice Faye on Thursday March 1, 2018. She was a native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County. Martha along with her sister Alice Faye operated The Twin’s Olde Towne Inn on Main Street in Smithfield for forty six years. She enjoyed serving numerous meals to friends and patrons of the establishment. Martha also enjoyed her friends of the American Legion and Bingo, and the Bunco Group that met monthly at the restaurant. She was a member of Uzzell United Methodist Church. Martha was the daughter of the late Joel Alton Whitley and Charlotte Beatrice Darden Whitley. Martha leaves to cherish her memories, her sister Charlotte Dean Whitley Greer, her brother William “Bill” Alton Whitley (Debbie), a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, cousins and extended family. A graveside service will be held on Monday March 5, at 1 p.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulder Hill Rd, Suffolk, VA with the Rev. Becky Gwaltney officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 4 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home.
