Lucille (Lucy) Rebecca Crocker Turner, 86, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023.  Born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia on November 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Peter Frank Crocker, Sr and Lillian Marie Brock Crocker. She was preceded in death by her husband Eddie Seward Turner, Jr. Affectionately known as “Mimi,” she is survived by her daughter, Karen Annette Turner Crocker (Steven); son, Eddie Seward Turner, III (Martha Anne); grandchildren, Amanda C. Jarratt, Jarred S. Turner, Joseph Luke Turner, Gregory W. Crocker (Laura); great grandchildren, Chloe, Claire, Nathaniel, Ethan, Joseph, Isaac; sisters, Lottie Frances Crance and Erma Marie Stephenson; and brothers, Peter Frank Crocker, Jr and James Edward Crocker (Doris). She was also preceded in death by her longtime friend Jack Hawley.

Lucy was a graduate of Smithfield High School, and a member of Beta Sigma Pi. A military spouse for 27 years she resided in Hawaii, San Antonio, Texas, and the Panama Canal Zone. She retired after many years as a bank teller at the Bank of Smithfield, Farmers Bank, and the Bank of Sussex and Surry.

Every family function included her chicken salad.  Numerous families enjoyed her homemade jelly and pickles.  A master of the art of cross stitch, her work hangs on the walls of many family homes.  Lucy loved to travel and would drive for hours to enjoy a delicious meal or purchase a certain brand of eclairs.   She loved her family fiercely and was not known to mince words.  Lucy had a tremendous heart.  She was generous with her time and always had the most thoughtful gift for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
