Laura Kirk Fletcher, 55, of Smithfield passed away on, Monday, January 1, 2024. She was the daughter of
David Robert Kirk and Elizabeth Gayle Sanford Kirk. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Mark
Alan Fletcher; daughter, Elizabeth “Bodie” Fletcher; sons, David Fletcher (Emily) and Alan Fletcher
(April); a brother, David Austin Kirk (Jennifer); and numerous nephews and nieces.
Born in Doylestown, PA and raised in Newport News, VA, Laura graduated from Warwick High School
and Auburn University. She was beloved by everyone who met her and a friend to all. Laura was devoted
to God, family, and her community. She loved Jesus and faithfully portrayed His steadfast love. She was
Mark’s rock, rudder, sounding board, and the family’s ambassador to the world. She made our home
easy to enter and difficult to leave. Laura was known best for her hospitality, generosity, and her
unforgettable hugs. The family takes comfort in knowing she is now tending the gardens of heaven
happily in the presence of the Lord.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, 3 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home from 3:30 to 4:30. In lieu of
flowers the family asks that you take a friend to lunch and hug the ones you hold dear. Online
