Larry Eugene Scalf

Larry Eugene Scalf, 80, of Smithfield, passed away on Saturday July 11, 2026. He was the son of the late David Willie Scalf and Mandyleen Elizabeth Chapman Schalf. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca Carol Zirkle Scalf. He is survived by a son, David Carroll Scalf (Helen); grandchildren, Maxim, Michael, Taya and Michelle; and a sister, Carol Ferrell. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Scalf; and siblings, Eileen Hanks, Emily Mabry, Laura Morzark, Alice Beckett, Doug Scalf.

Larry graduated from Logan High in Logan, W.V. Where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca. He joined the U S Navy out of high school, where he served two tours in Vietnam. Following six years of service he pursued his career as a Marine Engineer, retiring from Newport News Shipbuilding in 2011. Together they built their retirement home and moved to Isle of Wight.
