Juanita Frazier Abernathy

Juanita Frazier Abernathy, 89, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Lois Boone Frazier and Ruth Osborne Frazier. She is survived by her son, William Clyde Abernathy Jr.; daughter Michelle A. Wiggins (Jason); grandchildren Angela Johnston, Ann Holland, Michael Brime, Megan Yeager, Jenna Wilson, and Madeline DeTroy; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Betty Abernathy Brime.

Nita retired from Smithfield Police Department with 35 years of service as Secretary to Chief of Police. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a loyal friend. She was a dedicated community servant volunteering time to the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad Auxiliary and the Salvation Army.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 25, 2024, 1-3 p.m. at 889 W. Main Street, Smithfield. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to The Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary P O Box 209 Smithfield, VA 23431.
