Joseph Wayne Bryant

Joseph Wayne Bryant, 61 of Ivor, VA, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at home with his family by his side.  He was the son of Phyllis Clark Bryant and the late Samuel Thomas Bryant, Sr.  He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Tamela Thomas Bryant; daughters, Katie Jo Epperson (Josh) and Melinda Dixon; son, Marshall Bryant (Skyler); grandchildren, Russ, Kade, Sadie and Henley; a sister, Rosa Lee Copeland (Wayne); brothers, Steve Bryant (June) and Tommy Bryant; his beloved dog, Chevy, and his father-in-law Willie Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Dale and Carrie Lang.

Cancer is such an ugly thing. He fought hard the whole time he was sick.  His medical journey was nothing short of a roller coaster from start to finish.  His ultimate goal was to be at home with his dog and his family, and that is how he was able to spend his last days on earth.  We are beyond thankful for the time we had together. He worked harder than anyone we have ever known to provide for his family. Recently we got to know the side of him that was hilarious, quick-witted, genuinely kind, and loved wholeheartedly. The pure and unconditional love we witnessed between him and Tammy is one of the most beautiful things we have ever seen.  Joe loved his family more than anything.  Growing up, his kids always believed the dog was his favorite, but now its evident that his grandbabies topped the chart.  We know being Gampa was his favorite role in life. We will always hold tightly to the good memories.  Joe Bryant was undoubtedly one of a kind. In respect of Joe’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
