Joanne Darden Jones

Joanne Darden Jones, 79, of Smithfield passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late John Robert Darden Jr. and Mary Jane Warner Darden. She was a lifelong home maker and loving wife to her husband of 59 years Charles David Jones, and mother to her six daughters Denise Rees, Cynthia Smith (Mitchell), Robin Dimos (Brian), Nancy Wagers (Jim), Billie Joanne Jones and Jennifer Johnson (Matthew), nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her sisters Jackie Horsley (Ed) and sister in law Margaret Darden and brother Ronnie Darden (Faye). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John R. “Bobby” Darden III and son in law Steve Rees. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Mill Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Smithfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.heart.org or www.autism-society.org.
