Janet Gaye Dixon

Janet Gaye Dixon, 72, of Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Staniecki and Helen Wahick Staniecki. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Richard Earl Dixon; daughter, Shannon Jean Morris; sister, Linda Pryor (Mark); and a step daughter, Evelyn Yvonne Neumeyer (Fred).

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from high school. She joined the US Navy where she proudly served. After the Navy she worked for many years at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Janet had a passion for animals and was very active in the Isle of Wight Humane Society.

In respect of Janet’s wishes there will be no services held at this time. In lieu of donations the family suggests donations be made to the Isle of Wight Humane Society, www.iowchs.org.
