James Elton "Jimmy" Smith, III

Jimmy Smith of Smithfield VA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, November 2, 2026 at the age of 54.

Jimmy’s career in the cabinet business spanned over 30 years. He loved to create and build things with an eye for detail that showed in his craftmanship. He loved working on cars, especially showing off his Jeep along side his brother Joe at all the shows. Jimmy was an avid Hot Wheels collector and enjoyed spending time documenting his garage happenings on social media. Above all else he loved his family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his Stepfather William “Bill” Carl who he fondly called his “Pop.”

He is survived by his Mother Lorraine Carl, his Sisters Barbara Shevchuk (Mark) and Linda Tweten (Scott), Brothers Marvin Smith (Jennifer) and Joe Smith (Barbara), and his many nieces and nephews who knew him as “Uncle Bonez.” We will miss him tremendously.

A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday December 5, 2026 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm at Smithfield Christian Church located at 18420 Battery Park Rd. Smithfield VA.

In lieu of flowers please donate to IOW County Vol. Rescue Squad or Smithfield Vol. Fire Dept.
