James Joseph Siegel

Carrollton, Virginia: James Joseph Siegel Sr., 82, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was ushered into the presence of his Savior, at 05:30 A.M. on Friday, April 07, 2017. He was born on January 30, 1935 and was one of eight children born to Elizabeth and Howard Siegel. He faithfully served his country as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the USS Macon in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon completing his term of service, he began his career driving for Mason and Dixon Lines and was a proud member of Teamsters Union Local 107.  After moving to Virginia, he worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation until retirement. James was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers fan and could often be found loudly cheering for his teams. James is best remembered for his faithful commitment to the Lord and his passion for spreading the Gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. As a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, he enjoyed serving his church body, interceding for others in prayer, and visiting church members in their times of need. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Siegel, to whom he was married for 62 beautiful years. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia McGuire and Claire Warkulwiz, his three children, Denise White (Joseph), Cherylanne Ohm, and James Siegel Jr. (Karen), six grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. James Siegel left a powerful legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all those he encountered throughout his blessed life. A service will be held on Sunday April 9, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 15155 Turner Drive, Smithfield, VA in his honor.
