James Arthur Bailey Gurganus

James Arthur Bailey Gurganus, 79, of Suffolk Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 22, 2023 with his loving wife, Sandra Gurganus of 56 ½ years standing by his side. James was born on May 20, 1943, to Arthur B. and Mildred Gurganus in Martin County North Carolina. James served in the United States Airforce for four years, one year in the reserves after leaving enlisted status. Following his service to our country he was employed as a 10X Shop Fitter at Northrup Grumman starting in 1966 and retired in 2006. Among the many hats that James wore, those of Husband, Father, and Paw Paw were the most treasured. His memory will be a treasure to his precious family. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Arthur B. and Mildred Gurganus (Modlin); and his brother Johnny Gurganus. His precious loved ones left to cherish his influence are his wife Sandra Lavon Gurganus; daughter Stacey Lee Good of Edenton NC; sons James Brent Gurganus (wife Tina) of Clayton NC, and Derek Wayne Gurganus of Norfolk VA; grandchildren Logan and Gabrielle Martinez, and Noah and Ashton Gurganus. James loved fishing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He will be missed and forever loved. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 11a.m. – 12p.m. Immediately following the visitation hour, the celebration of life service will begin at noon. The visitation and service will be held at the Healing Waters Worship Center on Saturday April 29, 2023, located at 12172 Smith’s Neck Road, Carrollton VA. 23314.
