Jack William Santens, Jr, 41, of Surry VA, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. He was the son of Jack William Santens and Cassandra Ann Williams Santens. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Sarah Holland Santens; daughters, Jacquelynn Santens, JoLynn Santens, and Braelynn Santens; and sisters, Tawnya Santens, Melissa Santens Proctor, and Alison Santens.
Jack was born in Chester, California, and spent his childhood in Susanville, California, and Emmett, Idaho. From a young age, he had a natural drive and discipline. He practiced karate as a child, an early reflection of the strength, focus, and determination that would carry throughout his life.
He graduated from Emmett High School in 2003, where he was known as an outstanding wrestler. His love of competition and perseverance later led him to become a professional MMA fighter, reflecting the strength and resilience that defined him.
In 2005, Jack joined the United States Marine Corps, beginning a proud chapter of service. While stationed at Camp Pendleton CA , he met the love of his life(his wife) starting a bond that would carry through every chapter of his journey.
After leaving the military in 2010, Jack took an eight-year break from service and worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington. Even during this time away from the uniform, his sense of duty, discipline, and drive never left him.
In 2018, Jack felt the call to serve again and joined the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Eustis continuing his commitment to service and structure while building the life his family shared in Virginia.
Above all else, Jack’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, an incredible father, and the ultimate “girl dad.” His wife and daughters were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Whether he was making them laugh, encouraging them to chase their dreams, or simply being present, his love for them was unwavering.
Jack had a passion for life and embraced every adventure. He loved riding his motorcycle, camping, hunting, cooking, trying new foods, and exploring new places. He always looked forward to the next experience and had countless dreams of places he still wanted to see. He also adored his loyal dogs, Bailey and Noel, who brought him so much happiness.
Those who knew Jack will remember his fun-loving, outgoing personality. He had an incredible ability to bring people together and make every gathering memorable. Even during life’s hardest moments, he found a way to smile, laugh, and help others do the same. He was always positive, always encouraging, and always the one cheering everyone else on. He truly was everyone’s hype man.
Jack’s strength was remarkable, not only physically but emotionally. He faced every challenge with courage, determination, and resilience. He never stopped fighting for the people he loved or for the life he wanted to live. His bravery, especially through his final battle, inspired everyone around him.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife, his children, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family who will forever cherish his memory. His impact on the lives of his family, friends, and everyone who knew him will never be forgotten. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the example he set will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
