Harry McAllister Cooper, III

Harry “Buzz” McAllister Cooper, III, 81, of Smithfield passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.  He was the son of the later Harry McAllister Cooper, Jr. and Margaret Grace Patterson Cooper.  He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Betty Louise McKown Cooper.  Mr. Cooper is survived by his daughter Tammera Missel (Kevin); son, Harry McAllister Cooper, IV (Caroline); grandchildren, James Cooper (Kaitlyn), Susan Kempinger (Jayson), Rebekah Kennedy (Zach), John Cooper and Patrick Missel; great grandchildren, Winter and Ember Kennedy; and a sister, Jackie Russell and her special friend Jane Miller. “Buzz” was a loving husband, a devoted and supportive father, grandfather and great grandfather and a committed disciple of Christ. He was a member of the Emmaus Community, a commissioned Stephen Minister, a volunteer with Peterson Hospice in Kerrville, TX, the Texas Lions Club, as well as various committees and positions at Handley United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, TX and First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX.  After his retirement he moved to Virginia and became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Smithfield. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Virginia Handbell Consort, www.vhcbells.org  or Trinity United Methodist Church, Smithfield, VA.
