Gregory Joseph Blazey

Gregory Joseph Blazey, 72, of Smithfield, passed away on December 19, 2018.  He was born in Endicott, N.Y. the son of the late Joseph and Anna Blazey.  He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. Following his military service, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in aeronautical engineering and worked at Newport News Shipbuilding.  After retirement he continued to share his love for the community through teaching at both Warwick and Smithfield High Schools, and also substituting at Windsor Elementary School.  He was affectionately known throughout the county as Mr. Santa Claus.  He is survived by his faithful partner of the past eleven years Jill Helane Weller; sons, Christopher Blazey and Matthew Blazey.  There will be no local services, burial will take place in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott, N.Y. at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family request you consider a donation to, Santa's favorite charity,  St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
