Glenn Erwine, age 65, of Smithfield Va, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior, whom he faithfully served throughout his life on Oct 3rd 2025, at 5:31am surround by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter & unforgettable memories. Born December 3rd 1959 in Zanesville Ohio, Glenn was the son of the late Russell Bruce Erwine and Rita Teresa Ricketts. Glenn’s heart was happiest outdoors—caring for his dogs, his garden, and his beloved chickens. He found joy in cooking, sharing home-cooked meals with friends and family, and the simple pleasure of a Saturday morning spent couponing. Family meant everything to him, and he carried on traditions with pride and love. Glenn had a rare gift for making everyone he met feel truly seen, heard & loved. From 1985 to 1999, Glenn proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he continued his lifelong commitment to his country through the Civil Service from 1999 to 2024 — a combined 38 years of dedicated federal service. From 2015 until his retirement in 2024, he held the position of Supervisory Logistic Management Specialist and ILS Deputy Director, where he was highly regarded for his leadership and unwavering work ethic. Glenn is survived by his loving & devoted partner of 30 years, Kenneth Hodges; his stepmother, Josephine Erwine; his sisters, Toni Jo Bright and brother-in-law John Bright of Wilson, NC; Susan Rita Erwine of Keystone, IN; and Micha Costello and brother-in-law Bill Costello of Crooksville, OH. He is also survived by his half-sisters, Judy Wofter and Cindy Jones, both of Zanesville, OH; and his half-brother, Kenny Ricketts of Wilson, NC; nieces Amanda Adkins, Erin Rust and their children, of North Carolina, whom he shared a close bond with, and many other nieces, nephews whom he loved deeply and dearly. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Russell and Rita Erwine. two sisters, Lisa Denise Erwine & Jessica Lynn Erwine and a half-brother Jack Erwine. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday October 8, 2025, 10 a.m. at St. Lukes Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA. In Lieu of flowers the family suggest you plant a tree in honor of Glenn.
