Glenda Gene Smyers

Glenda Gene Smyers, 77, died January 17, 2023, at Riverside. She was born August 13,
1945, in Gowanda NY, the daughter of Max Gibbs and Thelma Warm Gibbs.

Glenda attended Gowanda Central High School then went on to Buffalo State College. She was well known
in the community due to being a substitute teacher for Isle of Wight County and working at Peebles
department store. She was a hard worker and true friend to many people. After she retired, Glenda
devoted her time to her grandson and family. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, sewing,
cooking, and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Bruce Gibbs, Martin Gibbs and Judy Gibbs.
Glenda is survived by her brother Lee Gibbs of Monroe NC; sons Chris Smyers of Kill Devil Hills NC and
Paul Smyers of Norfolk VA; daughter-in-law Kerrie Smyers of Kill Devil Hills NC; and grandson Grant
Smyers of Carrollton VA.

A service of remembrance will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield VA.
The family will receive friends after the service. The family requests flowers to be sent directly to the
