Gerald Albert Shepherd

Gerald (Jerry) Albert Shepherd, 86 formerly of Sistersville WV, passed away on Sept 21, 2017 after a long battle with dementia and a short battle with leukemia. He was born September 25, 1930, the son of the late Stephen Shepherd and Etta Wood Shepherd. Jerry was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Sistersville, a US Air Force Veteran, a retiree of Lucent-AT&T, and was an accomplished woodworker who passed on the “I can do that” attitude to his children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 60 years Mary Margaret “Peggy” Jorden Shepherd (2012), his sister Donna Shepherd Hester (1990) and his infant son Edward (1967). He is survived by sons, Bill (Janet) of Bridgeport WV, Tom (Kelly) of Newport News VA, Jerry (Lorie) of Carrollton VA, Jim of Hampton VA, and Dave (Catherine) of Appling GA; daughters Debbie (Gary) Hisam of Friendly WV, Barb (Larry) Howlett of Martinez GA, Jan (Mike) Wells and Mary Ann, both of Sistersville WV; 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home in Sistersville with a wake service at 8:00 pm.
