George Daniel Pond

George Daniel Pond, 69, of Windsor, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. He was the son of the late George Delaware Pond, Jr. and Elizabeth DeMello Pond. Mr. Pond is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne Johnson Pond; sister, Bettina Pond Kusiak (John); and a brother, David Pond (Michelle). Mr. Pond received his Bachelor’s Degree in music Education while at California State University, Fresno. Upon returning to Virginia, he taught music at Nansemond Suffolk Academy. Mr. Pond proudly served in the U S Army as a musician, retiring after 22 years of service. He continued his love of music by performing in the Peninsula Concert Band and other groups. Following his retirement from the Army he continued to work in a supportive training role for Army personnel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 1:30 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA with burial with military honors to follow at Albert G Horton Veterans Cemetery at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
