Frank Hafer Hite

Frank Hafer Hite, 77, of Smithfield passed away on January 2, 2022. He was the son of the late Minor C. Hite and Mabel B. Hite. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Elizabeth Miller Hite.  Mr. Hite, affectionately known as “Grando”, is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Elaine Hite, Connie Hite Chapman, and Cheryle Hite Whitmore (Don, Jr.); grandchildren, Shelby, Cole and Mary; great grandchildren, Wiley and Leia; sisters, Viola Nunn, Dorothy Poole (Joe), Thelma Miller, Marilyn Hite and Mary Lou Ross (Donald, Jr.); brothers, Forrest Hite and Harvey Hite (Lynn).  Mr. Hite was charter member of the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department.  He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, working night shift and helping M D Cratch build houses during the day.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
