Francis Clement Pletl

Francis Clement “Butch” Pletl, 77, passed away unexpectedly at Sentara Obici Hospital, on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Born in New York State to the late Francis Clement Pletl and Dorothy S. Servatius Pletl. He had retired as manager from Metropolitan Insurance Company. He was a member of The Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithfield. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth Louise Pletl, five sons, James J. Pletl (Van Nguyen), Mark E. Pletl (Debbie), Ronald M. Pletl (Rhonda), Brian S. Pletl and Michael D. Pletl (Connie), nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His brother John Pletl (Patricia) and sisters Ellen P. Foster (Thomas), Joanna P. Buchanan (David), and Mary P. Caufield (Robert). He was predeceased by his parents and an infant son Christopher. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28 beginning with a Catholic Rosary prayer service at 6 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:30 at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 29 at 9 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Smithfield, Virginia.
