Eugene Hambden Carter

Eugene Hambden Carter, 94, of Smithfield, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022.  He was the son of the late Frank Paul Carter and Alice Stevens Carter.  He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Horne Carter; a daughter, Anita Carter Moore; brothers, William Carter and James Carter.  He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Ann Carter; and a son-n-law, Michael Moore.  Mr. Carter retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 43 years.  He served as a Deacon at Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church and Smithfield Baptist. He enjoyed watching hockey and held season tickets to the Norfolk Admirals.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, 2 p.m. at St Luke’s Memorial Park, Smithfield.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Smithfield Arts and Summer concert series https://www.smithfieldarts.com/.  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
